SAN FRANCISCO HELD ONE OF HUNDREDS OF DEFUND PLANNED PARENTHOOD PROTESTS. THERE THEY WERE MET WITH HUNDREDS OF LEFTIST COUNTER PROTESTERS…..
Thee IC reports the following account from Ron, the head of “40 Days for Life” in SF and the President of United for Life SF Area:
“DE-FUND PP HAD 100 SUPPORTERS. The PP supporters had 300-400. We were a bit overwhelmed and the police hemmed us into a little “pig pen” on the sidewalk, which was very appropriate for the Feast of our Lady of Lourdes who appeared to St. Bernadette at Lourdes in the grotto which they called the “pig place”.
Our leaders arrived at around 11 AM to prep for our Rally which was scheduled for noon. When we arrived, there were already 20+ antagonists. We were greatly outnumbered all day until around 2:30 PM when most of the PP supporters had dispersed.
Our people were well composed. Mostly we faced them, holding our signs “Defund Planned Parenthood”. From their side it was screams and chants laced with obscenities. Most of the professional signs they held were supplied by the Communist International Socialist Organization. There were also numerous homemade signs.
After approx. 2 PM many PP supporters had left, and their angry screams seemed to have worn them down. By 2:30 only the hard core remained. Some of our people had to leave too, but many stayed until 3 PM. So we peacefully gathered up our stuff, thanked the remaining police for maintaining the peace, and we departed.
PP had surgical abortions scheduled from 7 AM, every 20 min. throughout the day, NO openings. I am convinced that many women turned away when they arrived to see the chaos that was happening on the street in front, during the more than 4 hours that the rally & counter protest was active. Praise the Lord!
There was a large article today in the Chronicle, with pictures. There was no mention of the interview done by Laura, as was to be expected for the Chronicle. It was mostly a warm and fuzzy piece on all the wonderful medical things the PP does for the poor women and how these women have been saved, by PP’s services.
It will be interesting to see what distorted report will be in the Sunday paper. There were many reporters and photographers present, but it was difficult to engage with them or even determine who they were representing.
I’m sure there will be tons of media coverage from many quarters. Par for SF, it will likely be mostly pro-PP. But I feel good about the whole event. Even if the reports are negative, our mission to get out the word to Defund Planned Parenthood, was achieved, and it is likely that lives were saved.”
We invite you ALL to go online and register at <www.40daysforlife.com/sanfrancisco> then go to the online calendar and sign up to come pray with us during the 40 Days, 8 AM to 8 PM, daily starting on Ash Wed. Mar. 1.”
We are also anxious to hear the reports from the other parts of the country.
God Bless you and all those who participated today all over the U.S.A.
“Police were careful to keep protesters on either side of the sidewalk away from each other. But one anti-abortion demonstrator, Eva Muntean, (Co-founder of the West Coast Walk for Life) broke away at the request of two young women on the pro-abortion side. They talked for 20 minutes, sharing their views and personal stories, debating policy and statistics. In the end, no minds were changed, no opinions swayed. But they thanked each other for the civil conversation. “I totally respect their right to be here,” Muntean said. “I wouldn’t want it any other way.”…
Demonstrators in the Bay Area joined abortion opponents outside Planned Parenthood facilities across the country Saturday for protests calling for an end to government funding for the organization.
While demonstrators in both San Francisco and Redwood City joined more than 200 anti-Planned Parenthood rallies across the country, both groups were outnumbered by counter protesters supporting the women’s health centers.
At the San Francisco Planned Parenthood location on Valencia Street, both sides noisily shouted chants at the other. About 300 rallying in support of Planned Parenthood stood on the opposite side of a walkway where about 50 demonstrators held antiabortion signs.
“Not your bodies. Not your choice!” one demonstrator, Terrisa Bukovinac, shouted through a bright red megaphone.
“The crux of why I’m pro-life is also the crux of why I’m a feminist,” Bukovinac said.
One man on the defund Planned Parenthood side began pointing at counterprotesters, shouting, “All of you were born!”
Maya Malika, a Planned Parenthood supporter, tried to yell louder, shouting, “A fetus is not a baby, abortion is not murder, women are not incubators!”
President “Trump and (Vice President Mike) Pence, especially Pence, is a Christian fascist who wants to take women back to where women induce their own abortions in back alleys,” Malika said.
At a Saturday morning protest outside Planned Parenthood’s Redwood City location, about 30 demonstrators rallying against the clinics were met with about 200 counterprotesters.
The groups faced off on opposite sides of the streets, with a demonstrator against Planned Parenthood strumming a guitar while those in support chanted “We care for health care.”
Some supporting Planned Parenthood crossed to the other side to stand next to those against the clinics. One young woman held a sign that read “Alternative Facts” next to the antiabortion signs.
Palo Alto resident Arline Miyazaki, holding a sign that read, “I am the pro-life generation turned toward the woman.
“If you ever, ever, ever really cared about people, you would not want to have someone be murdered,” she said. “I’ll pray for you.”
House Speaker Paul Ryan announced in January that sweeping legislation to repeal the Affordable Care Act would include eliminating money for Planned Parenthood.
Saturdays #ProtestPP rallies, primarily sponsored by Citizens for a Pro-Life Society, Created Equal and Pro-Life Action League, were held across 45 states to promote reallocation of funds to health centers that do not provide abortions….
